Preparation

I have never felt like one to be cliche, but I am in need of a vacation.  A rut, the monotonous schedule, and numbness toward the general public has worn my spirit a little low.  And now I am packed, waiting for an airplane.  My imagination feasts on this plane.  It could travel me to any destination.  I am ready to step out of my comfort zone and recharge, as my signal strength needs an adaptor.

Today I leave on a red eye flight to Santiago, Chile with my father and grandmother for a 17 day adventure through South America.  Perhaps this will be the Pettus family's finest show of love, unity, and disfunctionion.  What a proud presentation this will be!

I feel so prepared and excited to be inspired by Patsy's lack of shame and curiosity, my father's strength and vision, and my own enthusiasm and delight.  I am also thrilled that our hotels have full bars.  Most of all, I am thankful to be able to experience a world class trip of a lifetime with three generations of my genetic makeup.

I will exist in my childhood dream of living in the world of Eva Peron, utilize nine years of schooling in the Spanish language, smell the streets of Rio, become a lush of Chilean wine in Chile, avoid pilates lessons in Patagonia while wearing Patagonia, be cooled by the falls of Iguazu, perhaps dine on an endangered species. I am ready to simulate these repressed senses.

Let's Ride.
